Our Story
From a spare bedroom to a dedicated Phoenix studio
Phoenix Scanning started the way a lot of small businesses do — with one person, one flatbed scanner, and a spare bedroom that slowly filled up with other people's shoeboxes. A neighbor asked for help digitizing a dying box of wedding slides. Then a coworker asked about a stack of VHS tapes. Word spread the way it does in a city like Phoenix, one favor and one referral at a time.
Within a couple of years, the spare bedroom setup couldn't keep up. We moved into a proper studio space, brought on a small team with backgrounds in photography, video production and archival work, and started treating what had been a favor for neighbors like the actual craft it always deserved to be — calibrated equipment, documented handling procedures, and a real quality-review pass on every batch instead of a single blind scan.
What hasn't changed is the reason any of this started: a box of film or photos is only valuable if someone can actually open it and see what's inside. Our job is making sure that's still true in twenty years, not just today.
